The Real Reason Tattoo Artists Ask for a Deposit....

Hey there ink lovers! Today I wanted to touch base on a topic that often raises questions among tattoo clients and hopefully shine some light on the matter. Why do tattoo artist require a deposit to book?? Here are a few reasons I came up with.

Secures you spot:

Tattoo artists are talented individuals that invest their time, skills, and creativity into each piece they create. By taking deposits they can ensure that the client is as committed and serious about their tattoo that they are. Deposits help secure your spot in their busy schedule , guaranteeing that you'll receive their undivided attention and expertise at the time of your appointment.

Time and Preparation:

Creating a tattoo design requires careful planning, research, and customization. Artists invest a significant amount of time sketching, conceptualizing, and perfecting your unique design. Deposits may not fully compensate them for the time they spend with the consultation, design creation, and other preparation, but it is a sign that you are committed to this process.

Avoiding Last-Minute Cancellations:

Tattoo artists will typically have a waiting list and may have limited availability. By requesting a deposit, they minimize the risk of last- minute cancellations, which can be frustrating for the artist and their potential clients that have been waiting to get in their chair. It is also a business and as such, if you are not committed to the process, bringing in a client that is - is how they will pay their bills, ect, just like any other job.

Covering Equipment and Supplies:

Tattooing requires specialized equipment, high quality inks, sterilization supplies, and other materials necessary to create your art. Deposits can help cover the costs , ensuring that they can provide a safe and hygienic tattooing experience.

So next time you are ready to get inked, embrace the deposit process and appreciate the dedication and hard work that goes into creating your tattoo. Your artist will appreciate your understanding in their work and their process and will be happy to design your beautiful tattoo.

If you are an artist that still doesn't charge a deposit- I suggest rethinking your strategy. You will attract clients that have more respect for you and your work when you do. It is important that you know your time is important and valuable and your skills are an asset. If you do not know how you should start I will be happy to give you some pointers!

Let me know what your thought on deposits are? I know some people do not like them and others are okay with the process. Did any of this blog help you understand the process more?
